President Donald Trump trolled Sen. Ted Cruz on Wednesday, making a comment that he would be confirmed unanimously if he put him up for the Supreme Court. Not necessarily because Cruz is respected by his peers, but rather, because they would like to no longer have to deal with the loud-mouthed neocon in their chamber.
“He’s a brilliant legal mind, he’s a brilliant man. If I nominate him for the United States Supreme Court, I will get 100% of the vote,” Trump said. “The Democrats will vote for him because they want to get him the hell out. … And the Republicans will vote for him because they want to get him the hell out, too.”
Cruz has taken a more aggressive stand against President Trump in recent weeks as he postures for a potential 2028 presidential run. He criticized the Trump administration for being too tough against the radicalized Left organizing against law and order in the streets of Minneapolis.
“In the world of politics, we’ve got to realize that we’ve got to confront the bad stories with stories that are compelling. And it’s where tone matters,” Cruz said on a Monday episode of his Verdict podcast. “What I think the administration could do better is the tone with which they’re describing this, that immediately when an incident like this happens, they come out guns blazing, that ‘We took out a violent terrorist, hooray.’”
Recently, leaked audio revealed Cruz criticizing President Trump’s America First trade policy as well as his Vice President J.D. Vance. The audio revealed a conversation between Cruz and donors where he bragged to standing up to President Trump’s trade policies.
According to Cruz, he said the following to President Trump: “Mr. President, if we get to November of [2026] and people’s 401(k)s are down 30% and prices are up 10–20% at the supermarket, we’re going to go into Election Day, face a bloodbath. You’re going to lose the House, you’re going to lose the Senate, you’re going to spend the next two years being impeached every single week.”
President Trump’s alleged response was eloquent in its brusque simplicity: “F**k you, Ted.”
Cruz claimed without evidence in the audio recordings that Vance is a puppet of Tucker Carlson, who Cruz has been obsessed with since Carlson humiliated him during a podcast showdown last year.
“Tucker created JD. JD is Tucker’s protégé, and they are one and the same,” Cruz said.
Cruz might have to be called Lyin’ Ted once again. He acted like he was pro-Trump for years to restore his credibility with the MAGA base but is showing his true colors as he believes he can be in power. Cruz must be soundly rejected by Republican primary voters in 2028.
