Thursday, US Vice President JD Vance chastised Israeli Cabinet members who have been critical of President Trump and the US in the wake of the new Iranian peace deal. Vance warns them, effectively, not to bite the hand that feeds.
While Israel has been more than enthusiastic about continuing war with Iran, and many of their members of government have claimed to have been betrayed by the United States’ desire to strike a peace deal, it is clear that the VP is on the side of peace. Vance reminds Israel that their only remaining ally of note in the entire world is the United States of America, and that President Trump is the only world leader–leader of the world’s premier superpower, mind you–who hasn’t grown sick of Israel and Netanyahu.
“Donald J. Trump is the only head of state in the entire world who is sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time,” Vance stated from the White House, “The problem for Israel is not Donald J. Trump, and anybody in Israel who thinks their biggest problem is the president of the United States needs to wake up and smell the reality of the situation that country is in.”
American approval of the war is at an absolute low, as we as a nation attempt to strike a peace deal. The US-Israel war with Iran started back in February, and has seen to an energy crisis, deaths of American military personnel, and multiple ceasefire violations by the isolated Israeli state. Israeli war-hawks continue to clamor for US intervention in the region, frequently acting as if the American people haven’t sacrificed enough for them yet this time around. Indeed, VP Vance reminds them that “over the last three months, two thirds of the defensive weapons that have protected your homeland, have been built by American hands and paid for by American tax dollars.” Even in peace times, American tax payers spend billions every year in bolstering Israel’s defense.
The Vice President doesn’t stop there, either. He also accuses Israel of trying to “kill [their] way out of solving every single national security problem.” (Read the replies to see how some citizens of our greatest ally view our sacrifices for them)

This exchange shows a deepening divide between Israel and their final remaining ally, caused largely by Israeli military enthusiasm as pertaining to Iran and Lebanon. How the peace deal shapes up will likely determine the future of US-Israel relations, as hinted at by Vance, and as is feared by Israel’s more hawkish cabinet members.
