A new Harvard/Harris poll reveals widespread and increasing American support for the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement agenda, particularly mass deportations of individuals in the country illegally.
The survey of 1,725 registered voters, conducted May 29-30 by The Harris Poll and HarrisX for Harvard’s Center for American Political Studies, found that 56 percent of respondents back deporting all immigrants who are here unlawfully. This majority support underscores the public’s alignment with President Trump’s priority of restoring immigration law and order.
Support for deporting criminal illegal aliens stands even higher at 80 percent, marking a five-point increase from April. This “worst of the worst” policy enjoys broad bipartisan backing: 90 percent of Republicans, 79 percent of Independents, and 71 percent of Democrats favor removing those who have committed crimes.
The data demonstrates that the Trump administration is correctly reading the pulse of the American people on border security and interior enforcement. By prioritizing the removal of illegal immigrants—especially those with criminal records—the administration is delivering on voter demands for safer communities and restored sovereignty.
Among key demographics, 77 percent of Republican voters support full-scale mass deportations, while a majority of Independents (53 percent) also back the policy. Notably, 37 percent of Democrats endorse deporting all illegal immigrants, reflecting a four-point rise from April. This cross-party shift signals growing recognition that unchecked illegal immigration imposes real costs on American workers, taxpayers, and public safety.
The poll further highlights shifting perceptions, with 55 percent of voters now believing Democrats favor deporting violent criminals here illegally—an increase driven largely by Democrats themselves. This suggests many in the center and even on the left are increasingly receptive to stronger enforcement measures.
These results validate the Trump administration’s multi-pronged strategy, including enhanced ICE operations and cooperation with state and local authorities. Far from being fringe, mass deportation efforts enjoy solid majority support because Americans understand the necessity of enforcing existing laws after years of open-border policies that strained resources and endangered citizens.
As the administration moves forward with removals, this polling provides clear evidence of public mandate. Voters across the political spectrum are signaling approval for decisive action to secure the homeland, remove criminal elements, and deter future illegal entries. The Trump team’s focus on immigration enforcement continues to resonate because it places American citizens first—exactly as promised.
The findings arrive as federal authorities ramp up operations, reinforcing that the public overwhelmingly supports finishing the job of restoring legal immigration and removing those who entered unlawfully.
