A veteran Democratic strategist has laid out the plan for Democrats to consolidate power, rip up the Constitution and subvert the law should they be able to regain control of Congress in the midterms and then the White House in 2028.
Speaking on a podcast alongside political commentator Al Hunt, former Clinton campaign guru James Carville suggested that, if Democrats secure unified government, they should move quickly to enact major institutional changes. Among the ideas discussed were granting statehood to Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, as well as expanding the Supreme Court of the United States from nine to thirteen justices.
Carville indicated these steps could be taken immediately upon gaining power, and suggested such actions should not necessarily be central campaign issues beforehand. Hunt also emphasized that, in the nearer term, Democrats should focus on political and legal accountability efforts if they win back congressional majorities.
Proposals such as D.C. and Puerto Rico statehood have long been debated. Supporters argue they would provide full representation to residents, while critics contend they could shift the political balance in Congress. Similarly, expanding the Supreme Court—often referred to as “court expansion”—has been a contentious issue, with advocates saying it could address perceived imbalances, and opponents warning it could undermine judicial independence.
Carville also criticized existing political structures, including Senate representation, arguing that population disparities between states affect national governance. His remarks reflect broader ongoing debates about the structure of U.S. institutions and how they should evolve.
These discussions come amid wider speculation about future election outcomes and the policy directions each party might pursue. Analysts note that any such changes would require significant legislative support and would likely face legal and political challenges.
This highlights the importance of the midterms. Carville is considered a moderate compared to the far-left lunatics who are gaining power within the Democrat Party now. If they win, it will mean abuses that make Russia-gate pale by comparison.
